I love to increase my productivity any chance I can get, and as such I’ve become practiced at taking on information via audio methods.
I’ve found that I can do basic other tasks while listening to averagely complex content. It wasn’t easy at first, but like most things with practice, things get better.
On a mobile I’ve been using @Voice Aloud Reader for sometime, getting my radio like service on my commute, but for any text that I want. It is slightly robotic, but the voice engine is your own choice and can be changed. I find it acceptable for the flexibility of almost any text read out loud to me from my mobile, on dog walks, commutes and runs. However I was looking for an app that would read web pages out to me from my desktop.
I’ve been having a great time with Read Aloud, you might like to check it out.
To use it you would need to be using the Chrome browser provided by google : https://www.google.com/chrome/
Then you would need to install the app : Read Aloud
Essentially after installing it and activating it you simply click a button and your computer will read the website you are currently on out loud!
I’ve gotten so good at clicking the button now I’m almost seamlessly continuing my “reading” as I reach for my caffeine fix at the coffee machine!
Let us know how you get on.
